PEARL OF ITALY

Day 1 Ð Depart from the USA on a comfortable transatlantic flight. Dinner and movies on board.

Day 2 Ð Rome. Transfer from airport to the hotel. Time at your disposal for an initial exploration of the Eternal City. We meet for dinner. Overnight accommodation at the hotel.

Day 3 Ð After breakfast begin a full day guided tour of incomparably beautiful sights with an experienced guide. Piazza Republica, the Aurelian Walls, the Pantheon, the park of Villa Borghese, the Foro Italico, Piazza Navona, the Fontana di Trevi, ("three coins in the fountain"), the Piazza and Church of Saint Peter in the Vatican. In the afternoon we visit the Coliseum, then time for shopping and other personal activities. Dinner on your own. Overnight accommodation in the hotel. Special arrangements will be made for Catholic groups to attend the Papal Audience.

Day 4 Ð Rome/Assisi/Florence. After breakfast, the tours depart for Florence. The journey, which occupies the whole day, provides for stops in the mystical city of Assisi and ancient Perugia. We travel across the land of the ancient Etruscans and the exciting rolling countryside of Tuscany in a constantly changing pattern. After arriving in Florence we enjoy a dinner and overnight accommodation in the hotel.

Day 5 Ð Florence. After breakfast, a visit of the city. Among the more relevant things to see are the Piazza del Duomo, Brunelleschi's Dome, Giotto's Bell Tower, the Baptistery with its Paradise Doors, the river embankment of the Arno, the Old Bridge and Piazzale Michelangelo, which offers a superb panoramic view of the city which was the heart of the Renaissance. The afternoon is available for individual visits to the numerous museums or shopping. Dinner on your own. Overnight accommodation in the hotel.

Day 6 Ð Florence/Venice. After breakfast we leave for Bologna on the Autrostrada del Sole arriving in Ravenna, famous for its valuable mosaics, and the Adriatic coast. From there to Padua, the city of the Chapel of the Scrovegni frescoed by Giotto and the Holy Church where the body of Saint Anthony rests. In the late afternoon we continue to Venice. Upon arrival we meet for dinner. Overnight accommodation. Return transfers by private motor-launch from Piazzale Roma to the hotel are included.

Day 7 Ð Venice. After breakfast we start our guided walk around the city, which includes, besides many other points of interest, a visit to the Palace of the Doges (Ducal Palace) and to the Basilica of St. Mark. The guided walk ends at about noon. Rest of day is at leisure in this unique city. Dinner on your own. Overnight accommodation at the hotel.

Day 8 Ð Venice/Milan. After breakfast we depart Venice towards Milan. From here we either fly back home today (arrival on same day) or we stay for two more days to enjoy this city. Those who stay will have an afternoon city tour. We will visit the Galleria, the Duomo Cathedral, Piazza della Scala Ð named after the world's most famous opera house, and many other sites. We meet for dinner.

Day 9 Ð Milan. A free day to enjoy the numerous art museums and to do our last shopping before going home. Dinner on your own.

Day 10 Ð Flight back home, arrival the same day. Or continue with us on a Mediterranean Sea cruise to Greece and Turkey.
